Books On Vril And The Black Sun?

by Thulean Imperial Inquisitor

If you were going to put together a perfect booklist on Vril and the Black Sun what books would you choose?
I think the following books could probably make a good list.
But I know this list is far from complete! So please add to it.

Vril, the Power of the Coming Race ( (1870)Vril: The Power of the Coming Race by Victorian novelist Sir Edward Bulwer-Lytton first published in 1871 is a fascinating and bizarre tale of a subterranean world. The novel begins as the narrator, an American, descends into a mine shaft where an accident occurs leaving him stranded in a subterranean realm. There he encounters a mysterious race, in possession of uncanny powers, the ability to fly, the control of automata, and the control of a mysterious force known as Vril. These are the Vril-ya, the civilized race, who constitute a utopian civilization beneath the surface of the Earth.
Arktos: The Polar Myth in Science, Symbolism, and Nazi Survival ( The Polar Myth in Science, Symbolism and Nazi Survival_ by Joscelyn Godwin is an interesting book about occult and pseudoscientific theories on polar shifts, the succession of ages, the Aryan race, the "hollow earth" theory, Nazi underground bases, lost cities, UFOs, mystical powers, theosophy, sex magick and a host of other obscure topics.
The Secret King: Karl Maria Wiligut, Himmler's Lord of the Runes ( into the dark mysteries of the Black Order of Teutonic Knights, and here, for the first time, read the mystical runo-speech of the Halgarita-Sayings first used by ancient Germanic tribes, and understand Wiligut's knowledge of Esoteric runic power, which may have been used to give the SS so many victories. Although from an unconventional standpoint as compared to modern day Runic Schools, Wiligut talks of the ancient Aryan Warrior Maidenhood, the Evolution of Humanity, the SS Ring, and the trilateral essence of the Got being within every Aryan. This book proves once more that Germanic Orders living by standards of honor and chivalry were not simply fanciful myths created 200 years ago, but deep seated in Germanic culture since even before Christ's birth. The Black Sun: The Alchemy and Art of Darkness ( Black Sun is an extraordinary examination of the alchemical stage known as the "nigredo"..the blackening or mortification, so often experienced as depression, terror, or madness. I was especially transfixed at the way in which Dr. Marlan expresses the paradoxical nature of these experiences in that the darkness itself contains a "shine" or luminescence, that is the light of nature, not that of heaven. The text is richly referenced with the writings of Dr. Jung, several case studies, and many other literary examples.
Reich Of The Black Sun: Nazi Secret Weapons & The Cold War Allied Legend (

In Reich Of The Black Sun: Nazi Secret Weapons & The Cold War Allied Legend, author and iconoclast Joseph Farrell provides intriguing answers to a series of hitherto unasked questions: Why were the Allies worried about an atom bomb attack by the Germans in 1944? Why did the Soviets threaten to use poison gas against the Germans? Why did Hitler insist in 1945 that holding Prague could win the war for the Nazis? Why did General George Patton's Third Army race to control the Skoda Works at Pilsen in Czechoslovakia instead of heading for Berlin? Why did the American army not test the uranium bomb it dropped on Hiroshima? Why did the Luftwaffe fly a non-stop round trip mission to within twenty miles of New York City in 1944?. Reich Of The Black Sun is a simply fascinating and thoughtfully engaging historical treatise that reveals the Nazis fascination with the occult, alternative physics, as well as new energy sources and weaponry. The reason I started this thread was this new book which is coming out next month.

The Vril Society ( more than two decades of painstaking research, this book unveils the darkest innermost secrets and history of a secret Nazi occult order. The veil surrounding this most secret and legendary was impenetrable until now, and the reality is even stranger than the wildest dreams or blackest nightmares. The Vril Society counted among their minions the black adepts Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler. More than any other secret society or occult order, the Vril Society influenced the history of the world. The godmen of the Vril Society sought to rule a world where enslaved subhumans would toil beneath the purple flames of the black sun and serve the arcane purposes of a master race. From the stupendous Atlantis technologies to the most secret occult rituals, theirs was the universe to conquer and subjugate.
Do you guys (and girls) know anything about this book?
Anyway, please add your ideas of books to this list. We should make something like the list on Atavistic or Organic Philosophy ( at Amazon.

I ordered this book months ago and its publishing date has been continually pushed back.

Vril is a word from a science-fiction novel by Edward Bulwer-Lytton titled Vril: The Power of the Coming Race and published in 1870. In the book, Vril is a form of energy possessed by an extremely powerful subterranean race. The book was quite popular in the late 19th century, and for a time the word "Vril" came to be associated with "life-giving elixirs".
    Complete test of the book:

Fun fact: Edward Bulwer-Lytton is the author referenced in Snoopy cartoons when Snoopy sits at the typewriter and begins his novels "it was a dark and stormy night".
Indeed, the still-popular English drink Bovril takes its name from the combination of the words "Bovine" and "Vril".
    Here's one I prepared earlier: :D

Some readers believe the book is non-fiction, and it has become associated with theories about Nazi-piloted Flugscheiben ("Flight Discs"), Vril-powered KSK (Kraftstrahlkanone, "force-ray cannon" — transmission rods that produce potent energy rays), Jesuit "spiritual exercises", and Atlanteans to name a few.
This makes the Vril Society sound kind of like an antiquated Star Trek fan club if you ask me. Wouldn't it be better to study the ancient texts that presumably inspired this work of fiction directly?
The story may have inspired Nikola Tesla when he invented remote control. While Tesla denied this, biographer Marc J. Seifer says the inventor probably knew the story given Bulwer-Lytton's popularity at the time.
    Anyone know more about this?
"Vril" is also mentioned in the book "HACKERS" by Steven Levy. "HACKERS" documents the rise of computer culture. In it is recounted the story of Les Solomon, an editor of "Popular Electronics", who had the following experience with Columbian natives during his archeology expeditions: "It was from those Indians, Les Solomon insisted, that he learned the vital principle of vril, a power which allows you to move huge objects with very little force. Solomon believed that it was the power of vril which enabled the Egyptians to build the pyramids..." Hackers, Pg. 222, par. 2, Penguin Books 2001.
I haven't read this book. Sounds like one for the Amazon wish list. Anyone read it? If Les Solomon has learned this principle, how's about giving us a demonstration? In "Fingerprints of the Gods" Graham Hancock mentions South American legends that tell of the Viracochas moving giant stone slabs by playing an eerie trumpet that sounded at a certain pitch.

  • I can recommed a very recent book by Robert Blumetti-

`Vrilology. The Secret Science of the Ancient Aryans` and

    `Vril or Vital Magnetism`

Blumetti`s book should be read in conjunction with his earlier `The Book of Balder Rising`.

I presume everyone is already aware of Lord Bulwer-Lytton`s `The Coming Race` or `Vril. The Power of the Coming Race`?

All of the above are available on Amazon.

  • What exactly is the "Black Sun" and what is its origin?

I have an old vhs tape that I bought years ago called "Order Castles of the Third Reich"...actually really fascinating. Anyway, there is a giant black sun on the floor of Wewelsburg Castle, and the narrator only made passing reference to it.

I have long been curious about the significance of the symbol.

  • What exactly is the "Black Sun" and what is its origin?
The Black Sun (now called a "Black Hole") is the inescapable law of the universe, it is where all matter is destroyed and created. It radiates creative and destructive energy and its sunwheel symbolizes the apocalyptic new age. From the Poetic Edda, Völuspá :

Now death is the portion of doomed men,
Red with blood the buildings of gods,
The sun turns black in the summer after,
Winds whine. Well, would know more?

Earth sinks in the sea, the sun turns black,
Cast down from Heaven are the hot stars,
    Fumes reek, into flames burst,
The sky itself is scorched with fire.

I see Earth rising a second time
    Out of the foam, fair and green;
Down from the fells fish to capture,
    Wings the eagle; waters flow.

Black Sun Rising: Interpretations of the Hawking Effect ('hawking%20black%20sun')

Before Hawking’s prediction in 1975 that black holes radiate energy [17], a black hole was the ultimate rubbish bin. Everything thrown in would never emerge again and communication from the inside was utterly impossible. The combination of general relativity and quantum field theory brought about the prediction that black holes do radiate their energy content away in the form of particles. This prediction has caused the rising of the black sun on the heavens of eternity.

The result caused a great stir in theoretical physics because it was the first concrete prediction of a limiting case of the elusive theory of everything. Nevertheless much is to be learned about the radiation of black holes. The Hawking effect, strictly refers to the emission of massless scalars from a Schwarzschild black hole, this is the simplest situation imaginable. One would need to investigate the emission of other particles from a more general black hole to observe some features that may lie hidden in the approximations. This is the purpose of the present investigation.

Black Holes Are "Green," X-Ray Study Says (

    John Roach
    for National Geographic News (

    April 24, 2006

Supermassive black holes are actually "green," scientists announced today as they described a new study on the energy efficiency of black holes. If cars were as fuel efficient as these black holes, researchers say, the vehicles could theoretically travel over a billion miles (1.6 billion kilometers) on a gallon of gasoline.

"In anyone's book, that would be pretty green," Steve Allen, an astrophysicist with Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, and lead author of the study, said during a telephone briefing with reporters.

Using NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory (related images from Chandra (, scientists hope to provide insight into how older, supermassive black holes at the centers of elliptical galaxies generate energy and affect their environment.

According to the study, most of the energy released by matter falling toward these supermassive black holes is in the form of high-energy jets traveling near the speed of light away from the black hole.

These jets create bubbles thousands of light-years across in the hot gas in galaxies. The energy supplied to these bubbles keeps the hot gas from cooling, thereby preventing billions of new stars from forming.

This should place limits on the growth of the largest galaxies, scientists said.

"In an environmental sense, the black holes are actually preventing galactic sprawl from taking over the neighborhood," Kimberly Weaver, an astrophysicist with the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, said at the briefing.

Weaver, who was not part of the study team, added, "This is another way that these black holes could be considered green."

    Not So Boring

Black holes are places in space where the force of gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape. Supermassive black holes are found at the center of every galaxy in the universe.
Allen and his colleagues studied nine older supermassive black holes in nearby galaxies that have received less scientific attention than quasars, a younger type of supermassive black hole.

Christopher Reynolds, an astronomer and study co-author at the University of Maryland in College Park, explained that quasars are considered more exciting because the material that falls into them is converted into bright light.

"This is what makes them powerful beacons of light that can be viewed across most of the observable universe," he said during the briefing.

The older supermassive black holes, Reynolds and Allen had observed, were not generating as much radiation—light, x-rays, et cetera—as would be expected from the amount of material falling toward them.

The team's study of these black holes, however, revealed these black holes are "extremely efficient not at producing light but at driving powerful jets," Reynolds said.

"So we've shown that black holes never seem to lose their efficiency at converting matter into energy, they just put energy out in different ways in different phases."

According to Reynolds, these older black holes, each about a billion times more massive than our sun, release about a thousand times more energy as jets rather than as light.

    Measuring Efficiency

To find out how efficient the supermassive black holes are, the researchers first used Chandra images of the central regions of elliptical galaxies to estimate the amount of fuel available for the black hole.
The team then used Chandra images to measure the size of the bubbles created by the jets and the jet power.

"So putting these results together—the fueling rates and the jet power—we measure an efficiency for these black-hole engines that goes far beyond any engine we are used to here on Earth," Allen said.
According to Allen, the study represents the first direct measurement of black hole fuel efficiency.

Exactly why these older, supermassive black holes are so efficient at making these jets will require further study, Reynolds added.
"But that's great. This is just part of the learning process by which we learn how these fascinating complex objects work."

A paper on this research will appear in an upcoming issue of the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

If you are interested in Wewelsburg I recommend the book, Heinrich Himmler's Camelot.
